All was going well until the time came to take off from Gatwick.
That was delayed by 67 minutes as the baggage handlers weren't able to get the plane loaded in time - ironic in view of the fact that Sarah and Chris only had hand luggage with them!
This was a TUI charter flight and, with Spring Bank Holiday week just over a week away, there were a lot of children on board - something to bear in mind when booking the next flights!
En route the pilots managed to make up some of the lost time, but a slightly late arrival was further added to by the time it took for them to get through immigration and to get their car hire sorted. At least they didn't have to retrieve any big bags off the carousel!
Sarah and Chris had ordered a Mustang 2-litre convertible - just the job for a Florida trip, but inevitably the car hire company hadn't got that one available so they had to settle for a 5-litre hardtop. Chris doesn't even like to think what mpg they might get from that, but with gas half the price it is in the UK, the pain will be much less than it could be!
They're reporting back that the villa is at least as lovely as when they were last there and they feel as though they've never been away.
Alex and Tim, who manage the property on the ground, had left them a welcome card plus a bottle of wine and a spray of flowers - they certainly know how to keep on the right side of the owners and their family!
Having arrived at the house at around 6.15pm local time (11.15pm UK time) it was soon time to hit the sack after what had been a long but exciting day.
